Cobalt Blue

A 9 track pop album (51m ) — released October 23rd 2006 on Thirsty Ear Recordings

Eri Yamamoto is a force to be reckoned with in the New York scene. Her playing is quirky and original, but also executed flawlessly. Honing her skills in jazz clubs throughout Manhattan and beyond, Eri has risen in the ranks before the eyes of even the most puritanical of the jazz world at large. Born in Osaka, Japan and playing classical piano since age three, began writing at age 8, and in 1995 after visiting her first jazz club in new york, decided to move there and dedicate herself to this form of music. While at school in New York's prestigous jazz program at New School University she was playing regularly at Avenue B Social Club and began a musical friendship with pianist Matthew Shipp. Never afraid to experiment, along with bandmated David Ambrosio on bass and Ikuo Takeuchion on drums, this may be one of the most ferocious piano playing you may ever witness.'
